Helping UK homeowners save money on their heating

Residents in Middlesbrough are offered free insulation

A not-for-profit carbon reduction organisation is offering residents in Middlesbrough the chance to receive free insulation.

Residents in Easterside, Middlesbrough, will have the opportunity to lower their energy bills and reduce the carbon emissions of their homes for free by applying for a scheme, which is being carried out on behalf of TADEA.

The not-for-profit organisation is offering cavity wall insulation and loft insulation, funded by the Government’s Low Carbon Communities Challenge Fund, which aims to save energy in communities.

The Eco-Easterside project is being led by Middlesbrough Council, which hopes to lower the emissions of homes and buildings, promote sustainable transport, install wind turbines and fit two streets with low-energy LED lighting.

Councillor Julia Rostron, Middlesbrough Council’s executive member for community protection, said the scheme was a fantastic opportunity for Easterside residents who would enjoy warmer homes and lower heating bills as a result.

As part of the areas expanding green credentials, local schools are also to be retrofitted to achieve the Green Flag Eco-School standard, while an electric car club will also be set up.
