The latest statistical information for the Green Deal and Energy Company Obligation schemes have been published by the Department of Energy and Climate Change. By the end of July 2014, thanks to ECO, Green Deal, cashback and GDHIF, 940,000 energy saving improvements had been installed in 778,000 homes. Solid wall insulation and replacement gas boilers continue to be the most popular products.
The Green Deal continues to find its feet. By the end of August 326,884 assessments have been lodged since January 2013, up from 300,258 the previous month. In August alone there were 26,626 Green Deal assessments; the figures were 28% lower compared to July’s 37,193 assessments. Just 4,737 Green Deal Plans were in progress by the end of August, of which 2,092 were “live” meaning the measures had avtually been installed.
Under the Green Deal, 1,300 solar PV panel systems had been installed alongside 1,172 replacement boilers.
The Green Deal Home Improvement Fund (GDHIF) has 21,115 active applications. Of these, 1,573 measures have been carried out, with 1,205 vouchers paid. The most popular GDHIF product is solid wall insulation, with 861 measures carried out, compared to 354 replacement gas boilers.
The Energy Company Obligation (ECO) has been responsible for 98% of all measures carried out under these schemes. According to provisional figures up until the end of July, 919,121 measures have been installed. However, the numbers have been steadily dropping every month since March. Cavity wall insulation has beaten out boilers to be the scheme’s most popular product, accounting for 36% of all measures compared to 28% for boiler upgrades and 21% for loft insulation.
